History
José Froilán González made a notable mark in a brief career as a Formula One driver. The Argentinian secured Ferrari's very first championship win at the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire, in 1951. González first raced for Ferrari then Maserati, then back to Ferrari. Thereafter he raced a Formula One car in Britain only once again, in the 1956 Grand Prix at Silverstone as a guest appearance in a Vanwall.
The Vanwall VW1/56 as driven at the Silverstone British GP by José González in 1956 where unfortunately he did not finish (DNF), not even completing one lap when the drive shaft failed.
